The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Financial Services Division has an opening for a Manager of Perkins Loans and Payment Plans in the Student Business Services Department. 

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Federal Perkins Loan fund and the tuition installment payment plan.  Specific duties of this position include: Overall management of the Perkins loan fund including oversight of accounting entries, regulatory compliance, cohort default rate monitoring and Perkins Loans fund reconciliations; set-up, maintenance and administration of the installment payment plan; IRS 1098T reporting; coordination and presentation of orientations and other campus events; auditing daily work and cashiering funds; oversight of RT service queues; supervision of staff; analysis, preparation and presentation of statistical data; back-up support for cashiering supervisor and student billing process; and other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and three years in a supervisory position leading a team of professionals in a similar financial environment. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy are required. Must have extensive accounting experience (journal entries and reconciliations) and understand the importance of internal controls in a financial environment. The ideal candidate is committed to exceeding customer expectations and comfortable in a leadership role.  Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills as well as proficiency in MS Office.  Experience in higher education preferred.  PeopleSoft and public speaking experience a plus.
