Responsibilities:

The incumbent will report to the Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion and will provide support for the Division of Student Affairs and Student Life specifically focused on training students in cultural competencies and providing support for historically marginalized populations. Specific duties include: training students in cultural competencies and collaborating with student organizations, staff, faculty, Office of Student Life and Division of Student Affairs partners; coordinating multicultural, diversity and inclusion-based program development and student outreach efforts; managing the operational needs and resources for the Interfaith Center and LGBTQ+ Student Lounge (Queer Student Lounge); informal, secondary advising to  cultural, religious/spiritual and LGBTQ+ student organizations; assisting in supervising intern and student staff; assisting and supporting students with their developmental issues and concerns; serving on other programming committees for Student Life as able; representing the Office of Student Life at various campus activities including admissions preview days, Welcome Week, Involvement Fest, and Orientation sessions;  serving as a resource to the University community regarding broad diversity and inclusion concerns, LGBTQ+ support resources, sexual orientation and gender identity education and advocacy;  coordinating and attending training and retreats for cultural and LGBTQ+ student organization leaders; and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Master’s degree Student Affairs, College Student Development, Higher Education Administration or related field and two years of full time experience preferably in intercultural education, student training and multicultural affairs or related area. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish working relationships with a highly diverse campus community is required. Ability to work both independently and with a team of professionals is essential. The person in this position must have the technical, creative, and communication skills necessary to communicate our mission, vision and purpose to a large and diverse student population - including, but not limited to, meeting management, written work, social media, verbal presentations, and assessment reporting.

Preferred Qualifications: 

An intersectionality-based, LGBTQ+ focused diversity and inclusion related experience is highly desired.  Cross-cultural, religious and spiritual student development awareness and knowledge is a plus.  Strong commitment to and understanding of multicultural, international, diversity and inclusion issues is highly desirable.  Knowledge of instructional system design principles in order to train college students in a developmental capacity is strongly preferred.
