The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) seeks a Foundation Business Specialist to assist the Director, Advancement Operations with the division’s general business and foundation functions. As the main contact for UMBC with the USM Foundation (USMF) office, specific duties include: understanding the USMF policies and procedures and acting as the campus resource to ensure compliance; providing training on USMF policies and use of the accounting software, Blackbaud Financial Edge (FE); preparing reports, exports and queries; managing UMBC’s foundation account agreements; tracking OIA expenses and preparing disbursements; and performing other duties as assigned. Position may provide general divisional and event support with occasional evenings and weekends.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, math, financial management or other related field and at least one year (two preferred) experience working with budgets or financial reports, preferably in higher education and/or a non-profit organization.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel, including complex spreadsheets and databases required.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills, be detail oriented and be comfortable working in a team environment.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience with foundation/fundraising policies and/or experience in a fundraising environment a plus.

Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge as well as a demonstrated use of initiative to improve processes a plus.
