Reporting to the Business Manager of the COEIT Dean’s Office, the Specialist will be responsible for providing business services support to COEIT Dean’s Office, Center for Women in Technology and the Department of Information System in the areas of State, Contracts and Grants, Projects and Foundation accounts. Under general supervision, the Specialist will  exercise independent decision making in the day-to-day operation of the assigned departments and will make general recommendations to the Business Manager in terms of  the processes and procedures in the day-to-day operations of their areas of responsibility

Specific duties include: financial reporting; account monitoring, reconciliations and corrections; grants and contract post-awards; payroll backup; assisting the Business Manager and Assistant Dean of Finance in the preparation of the annual budget; financial projections; account management; financial reporting; monitoring, reconciling and correcting financial items in State, Post Award Grants and Contracts and Foundation accounts;  distributing and discussing financial reports with the Business Manager, Chairs, Directors and Dean,  PIs and Foundation owners on a monthly basis unless other arrangements are made; analyzing and projecting spending trends in State and Post Award Grants, Contracts and other projects; assisting staff and faculty in knowing if sufficient funds exist for hiring and purchasing; financial and HR transactions and troubleshooting; p-card monitoring and reconciling; requisition/purchase order management; journal entries; budget amendments; reviewing and approving e-travel  etc.; and performing other duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • HR and Sponsored Research experience
  • Experience in Higher Education
