Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Shady Grove Affairs in the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS), this position serves as the Assistant Dean of Shady Grove Undergraduate Programs in CNMS.  Specific duties include:  oversee curriculum and instruction; recruit and supervise qualified part-time faculty; collaborate with the Division of Professional Studies on program marketing, student recruitment and retention activities; advise students; pursue business development opportunities with industry, particularly for student internships; and carry out the necessary administrative duties associated with academic program oversight, such as course/faculty scheduling and facilitating effective program growth; and perform other duties as assigned.  In addition, the incumbent will teach at least one course per semester in the program.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a master's degree (doctoral degree preferred) in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a relevant field and at least five years of relevant academic or professional experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry, translational science/medicine research or a relevant scientific government agency. 

Strong organizational, management, and interpersonal skills necessary to manage and grow a highly active and visible academic program.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Teaching experience in classroom and/or on-line environments within biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related fields at the undergraduate or graduate levels is desired as well as experience working with community college and transfer students. 

Exceptional candidates will be innovative thinkers, highly functional in dynamic environments, able to network with industry, government and academic practitioners, and enjoy working in transdisciplinary environments.
