Responsibilities:

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Counseling Center seeks a Case Manager-Referral Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team. They will maintain a clinical case management system to minimize the impact of mental illness on the academic and personal pursuits of students by providing referrals, continuity of care and follow-up. They will be responsible for providing case management and referral services for students who are experiencing personal, social, and emotional difficulties that may impede academic progress.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop systems designed to minimize the impact of mental illness or emotional distress on the academic personal pursuits of students 
  • Assist students with social service needs including, but not limited to, referral to community resources and facilitating access to external mental health treatment
  • Follow up to ensure that clients are appropriately assessed and successfully referred.
  • Initiate and develop on-going liaison relationships with community providers, services, hospitals, and other resources. 
  • Provide daytime and on-call crisis services. 
  • Consult with faculty, staff, students, and family members, who are concerned about a student. 
  • Provide direct time-limited therapy, group therapy, outreach services, and supervision to trainees, depending on case management demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a masters or doctoral degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology or counseling.  Must be licensed or license-eligible as a mental health professional in the State of Maryland.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference will be given to candidates with (1) demonstrated expertise in clinical case management, (2) administrative and computer application skills required to effectively implement and maintain a case management and tracking system, (3) Experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment, brief intervention and referral, (4) Demonstrated sensitivity to multicultural issues and proven ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups.
