The mission of The Choice Program is to strengthen communities through innovative, family-focused strategies that connect youth to opportunities for positive choices. The mission is accomplished using a culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based approach that identifies and links the youth and families with social supports; fosters caring relationships; develops high expectations; and provides meaningful participation in youth-centered, community-based activities.

Position Overview:

The Choice Program's Personnel Coordinator ensures that well-qualified staff and AmeriCorps Members are poised to provide high quality, direct services to young people. As such, the Personnel Coordinator is a key member of the Personnel & Staffing team, contributing to the overall culture of the organization. The Personnel Coordinator represents the organization at career fairs throughout Maryland. This role develops partnerships with local universities/colleges and serves as a representative for Choice to recruit entry-level and full-time staff.

Responsibilities:

The position works within The Choice Program to attract high quality talent to fulfill vacancies for entry-level and full-time staff. The Choice Program utilizes an anti-racist, community-based, family-centered approach to promote high-quality outcomes for young people and families. The Choice Program engages in a collaborative process of service where young people set goals for themselves and are held accountable by supportive adults along the way. It is critical that The Choice Program's team members reflect the organization's core values, including holistic youth development, belief in humans and youth-centeredness. This position provides a first impression to interested candidates explaining the Program's mission and values.


Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinating The Choice Program's recruitment strategies through consultations with hiring managers, participation in local job fairs, promoting job opportunities on social media and other methods
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with local universities/colleges to promote entry-level job opportunities 
  • Participating in the onboarding process for new hires, including the coordination and facilitation of information sessions and interviews
  • Supporting organization-wide initiatives and projects and other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in Human Resources, Human Services, or related area.

Note:  A Master's degree or 15 graduate level credits in an accredited graduate program may be substituted for the one year of required experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Position requires use of automobile and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Two or more years of direct service experience in Human Services; service year with organizations such as AmeriCorps

Salary: Salary starts at $50,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
