Position Overview:

The Assistant Softball Coach is a full-time, 12-month, Pitching position responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Softball Program. The Assistant Softball Coach provides effective leadership, recruitment, coaching and monitoring of student-athletes to encourage successful academic and team performance.

In collaboration with the Head Softball Coach, the Assistant Softball Coach will be charged with assisting the UMBC Softball Pitchers, and is expected to identify, evaluate and recruit Pitchers that can be successful athletically, academically and socially in a Division I environment.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Player development: Pitching (practice planning and skill instruction, game management, attention to academics and commitment to community service)
  • Recruiting and retaining academically and athletically qualified student-athletes
  • Assisting with administrative responsibilities (scheduling, team travel and balancing the budget)
  • Cultivating relationships with alumni
  • Working with Athletics Department staff on fundraising, special events and appearances; and performing other duties as assigned
  • It is expected that the successful candidate will abide by all written policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics, UMBC, the America East Conference (AEC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • One year of Coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Two years of pitching experience at the professional and/or collegiate level

Salary:

Salary: $50,000 - $57,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
