Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services for Student-Athletes, the incumbent will be responsible for providing academic counseling for men's soccer and softball.

Specific duties include: coordinate and monitor the academic success of assigned teams (MSO & SOF) including weekly meetings with athletes, coordinating academic reports, communicating with faculty and coaches; assist with initial and continuing eligibility; teach a freshmen introduction to the university course, PHED 202 (fall only); compile end of semester grade reports for ACSA; coordinate summer bridge program and SLAM (Service, Learning And Mentorship); oversee Intern and coordination of PAAC Learning Support Program which provides intensive, essential learning strategies for under prepared student-athletes in a highly competitive academic setting, by providing proactive, early, sustained, individualized support to enhance student success; assist with the recruitment of new student-athletes and new student-athlete orientation; oversee Tutoring Program including the hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of student tutors and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) preferably in counseling, education, special education, curriculum and instruction, sports psychology or sport related field. Experience providing individual tutoring support, study skills assistance, time management strategies or other learning support instruction to high school or college students with specific emphasis on working with student-athletes in an academic setting; excellent communication and organizational skills; experience working with students from diverse backgrounds are required.  Tutoring, Teaching, Collegiate Student-Athlete, also highly sought after. N4A membership, understanding of NCAA/AEC rules and regulations, and experience with PeopleSoft and Retain desired.


Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Masters Degree
  • Two to three years of professional experience working with student-athletes as a learning specialist, or in an academic advising, teaching, counseling roll, preferably at a Division I level
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • N4A membership, understanding of NCAA/AEC rules and regulations, and experience with PeopleSoft and Retain desired.
