Position Overview: |
The Identity and Access Management Engineer/Specialist assists in the design, implementation, integration and ongoing support of service/account provisioning integrations and the authentication and authorization tools that leverage these provisioned services. The incumbent will maintain and improve processes around: Account provisioning/deprovisioning, ERP integration, access management, and authentication for both UMBC hosted resources as well as SaaS and IaaP services.

Responsibilities: |
A key contributor to university identity management initiatives, this position is part of a team responsible for enterprise-wide identity management and access control services.
The incumbent assists in the design, implementation, integration and ongoing support of service/account provisioning integrations and the authentication and authorization tools that leverage these provisioned services. The incumbent will maintain and improve processes around: Account provisioning/deprovisioning, ERP integration, access management, and authentication for both UMBC hosted resources as well as SaaS and IaaP services.
Additionally, this position will collaborate with others in the Division of Information Technology to ensure new system implementations are managed in alignment with existing strategies.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, information systems or related field
- Proficiency with Linux or other Unix-like operating systems.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Perl or Python.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Two to five years of experience working in designing, implementing and maintaining authorization through community supported software.
- AWS solutions architect or AWS cloud practitioner
- Experience with identity management concepts such as authentication, single sign-on, authorization, and account lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with SAML identity provider software such as Shibboleth and Entra AD
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of security protocols such as SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect
- Experience using and administering LDAP servers.
- Experience with Docker and container orchestration.

Salary: |
Salary: $108,000 - $120,960 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
