The mission of The Choice Program is to strengthen communities through innovative, family focused strategies that connect youth to opportunities for positive choices. The mission is accomplished using a culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community based approach that identifies and links the youth and families with social supports; fosters caring relationships; develops high expectations; and provides meaningful participation in youth-centered, community based activities.

Position Overview:

The Workforce and Educational Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Choice Jobs participants by providing personalized career coaching, workforce development training, and connections to community resources. Working under the Assistant Director of Vocational Programming, this position helps young people navigate employment and education opportunities while also supporting operations at Choice’s social enterprises, including UB Café and the Rysing Youth kiosks. Additionally, the Coordinator collaborates with local employers, schools, and Choice staff to strengthen job readiness programming, deliver training sessions, and contribute to events like College Nights.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized career coaching for a caseload of 15 youth, including Rysing Youth enterprise employees and former IA program participants.
  • Meet youth in various locations (homes, schools, community hubs, or Choice offices) to provide support.
  • Assist youth in setting and achieving personal, educational, and employment goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with youth to foster engagement and progress.
  • Facilitate workforce development sessions, including the Jobs Cohort program.
  • Design and implement skill-building workshops tailored to youth needs.
  • Support the planning and execution of College Night programming.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, businesses, and community resources to help youth reengage in education or employment.
  • Work with employers to prepare them for working with youth and foster inclusive environments.
  • Keep accurate and documented account of youth interactions, goals, and progress
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in human services, youth development, or related field
  • At least 1 year of experience specifically working with youth on employment readiness skills or job development skills
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience working or volunteering for an organization, institution or company with, or personally having, a strong commitment to anti-racist practices, equity and inclusion
  • Customer Relations Management (CRM)/information database experience
  • Familiarity with implementing restorative practices, using evidence-based practices for effective engagement with youth and families, such as motivational interviewing
  • Experience working in and/or developing partnerships in Baltimore City
  • Fluency in Spanish

Salary:

Salary: $50,000 - $57,500 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
