Position Overview: |
Provide pre-transfer advising to prospective UMBC students planning to pursue majors administered by the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) at both the USM Shady Grove Campus and UMBC Catonsville Campus.

Telework: |
A hybrid telework schedule may be available.
|
Responsibilities: |
- Provide pre-transfer advising support for prospective students in the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) programs at all UMBC campuses, through scheduled appointments (in-person and virtual), walk-in hours, email and by phone.
- Document the information/action items discussed for reference as students apply and matriculate to UMBC.
- Recommend courses for enrollment to incoming and continuing transfer students in CNMS.
- Represent CNMS programs at Recruitment Events, both on- and off-campus.
- Assist students with the creation of a graduation plan of action for their own purposes or for a university petition/appeal process (Financial Aid appeals, Course Repeat petition, etc.)
- Assist with the preparation for and staffing of Summer and Winter Orientation programs, including (but not limited to) academic advising and course registration for incoming declared students in CNMS majors.
- Support first-year students in CNMS and serve as a liaison between CNMS and other departments

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s Degree
- One year of experience in advising or other student-facing support role in higher education
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Master’s Degree, with an emphasis on Advising/Counseling/Higher Education/Student Affairs
- Knowledge of college student development principles and experience advising a diverse pool of students is desired.

Salary: |
Salary: $54,000 - $61,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
