Event & Conference Services (ECS) is UMBC’s full-service event planning support team, and a one-stop-shop for scheduling event spaces and resources on the UMBC campus. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality event services and professional customer service to our clients.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Assistant VP for Administration & Auxiliary Services, the Director of ECS serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT). They provide administrative, operational, programmatic, and budgetary direction for the spaces and operational functions of Event & Conference Services, which includes event marketing, sales, scheduling, and production. This position contributes to the Student Affairs mission by enhancing organizational effectiveness and organizational agility, and by building a thriving, supportive, and highly effective workforce.

Telework:

Responsibilities:

The Director of ECS supervises and provides leadership for the daily activities and long-term planning in the areas of student, departmental, and external event advising, event production and operations. The Director facilitates the maintenance and execution of event-related policies including the UMBC Policy on Alcoholic Beverages at University Events, Sales and Solicitation, Space Management, and the Posting of Notices and Event Roadway and Footpath Signage. The Director will also work closely with the Director of Facilities for Student Affairs to ensure that event space and priority projects are developed and executed using a cross-functional approach.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, event management, business administration, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of experience in conference and event planning, logistics, and large-scale event execution
  • 5 years of progressive responsibility in personnel and budget management
  • Strong knowledge of the hospitality and events industry
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in higher education, hospitality, or business management field.

Salary:

Salary: $103,000 - $116,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
