Position Overview:

The Equipment Loan Assistant/General Assistant reports to the Digital Media Lab (DML) Supervisor and supports the Circulation department’s loaner equipment program and provides high-quality customer service to Library users at the Circulation desk and DML.

Responsibilities:

The Equipment Loan Assistant/General Assistant reports to the DML Supervisor and provides support to the Circulation department.

This is a full-time temporary/Contingent I position.  The work schedule for this position is Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Scheduled hours may be subject to change based on updates to Library hours and/or staffing needs.

  • Assists with maintaining the inventory, documentation, condition, storage, security, and labels of loaner equipment (e.g., laptops, headphones, cameras)
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues using defined procedures and/or supervisor assistance
  • Uses automated Integrated Library System or manual processes to loan, return, and renew Library materials and Interlibrary Loans
  • Provides direction to patrons about accessing and using Library & Gallery services, including the catalog, printers, scanners, and other resources
  • Opens and closes the Library & Gallery including the Digital Media Lab
  • Responds to facility and patron issues, coordinating with appropriate departments and submitting incident reports as needed
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide basic technical help to users about printing and related services
  • Ability to work independently and to learn and operate common computing applications
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year of circulation experience in an academic library
  • Experience with the lending and/or maintenance of non-traditional library materials such as laptops, cameras, or headphones
  • Demonstrated ability to address building and security issues

Salary:

This position pays $19.33/hour.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours/week).

The work schedule for this position is Tuesday–Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Scheduled hours may be subject to change based on updates to Library hours and/or staffing needs

Additional Details

This is a temporary position.  The initial contract is for six months with the possibility of renewal.
