Provide services designed to promote the mental health and well-being of our campus community, including minimizing the impact of mental illness and/or emotional distress on the academic and personal pursuits.
Provide counseling services for students experiencing personal, social, and emotional difficulties that may impede academic progress, including: assessments, individual care, group counseling, crisis interventions, case management, and referrals to campus resources and outside campus providers.
Other responsibilities include psycho-educational groups and outreach and mental health promotion programs.
May provide training and clinical supervision for mental health trainees and entry level professionals, and training for paraprofessional staff and student peer groups.
Assess and treat mental health concerns via triages, single session therapy, time-limited individual counseling, and group counseling Assist students with mental health needs including, but not limited to, referral to community resources and facilitating access to higher level of care (e.g., coordination of discharge planning) Consult with faculty, staff, students, and family members, who are concerned about a student.
Cover daytime and after hours on-call crisis services.
Assist students in their decision-making regarding accessing mental health care and other supportive resources.
Assess students’ needs and their level of risk of harm to self and others.
Consider how to best support students’ health and academic success.
