Responsibilities:

The Paralegal plays an important role in supporting the Office of General Counsel by providing a wide variety of legal and administrative services. The position is available at the Paralegal or Senior Paralegal level. The position works closely with attorneys on tasks such as litigation support, legal and factual research, drafting legal documents and correspondence, and managing electronic information (including large data volume projects). The Paralegal also assists with reviewing contracts and business documents to ensure compliance with legal and policy standards, and helps coordinate review processes to keep projects on track. Beyond daily casework, this role contributes to broader office initiatives—using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to connect work across projects, and helping implement new technology systems (such as matter management tools) that improve efficiency and streamline legal workflows.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Paralegal: Bachelor's degree and two years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant; or a Master's degree may be substituted for the required two years of experience.

 

  • Senior Paralegal: Bachelor's degree and four years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant; or a Master's and two years of experience may be substituted for the required four years of experience.

  • Ability to apply general and/or specialized legal and/or compliance knowledge, regulations, rules, and practices developed through education and experiences;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Superior communication skills;
  • Accurate judgment, level-headedness, and discretion;
  • Initiative, intellectual curiosity, and tenacity;
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple complex projects;
  • Attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and self-motivation;
  • The ability to work independently
  • The desire to be fully engaged in the work and to approach it with energy and passion.
Preferred Qualifications: 

Education: Paralegal Certificate

Experience: Experience as a paralegal, or similar, at an institution of higher education, government, or public sector employer

Salary:

Salary range of $70,000 to $77,000 for the Paralegal designation.

Salary range of $78,000 to $88,000 for the Senior Paralegal designation.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
