Position Overview: |
This position will support both teaching and research in the CBEE department. Research support will include advising students and faculty regarding ordering (of both supplies and major equipment) as well as fixing, or coordinating repair, of existing equipment. Support of teaching will involve working with faculty who instruct undergraduate laboratory classes to ensure equipment is functioning properly, and that necessary supplies are in place before a class begins. In addition, this person will coordinate with student teams regarding individual lab projects and advise students regarding safety and supplies. The individual hired should be well versed in general, biological, and chemical laboratory safety, and able to train others in this area. |

Responsibilities: |
Successful candidate is expected to maintain research and undergrad labs, including oversight of the repair and maintenance of all lab equipment in buildings the Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering Department (CBEE) occupies. Ordering supplies for the labs and scheduling chemical waste pickup. Maintaining service contracts for major equipment. Reconciliation of monthly purchases via credit card and internal purchasing system. Working with Faculty to order, arrange delivery and install new equipment purchases for the laboratories. This position works with Faculty and Grad Students in the design and construction of lab equipment/apparatuses, and in creating modifications of existing equipment. |

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |

Salary: |
Pay Range 07 (minimum: $44,053 maximum: $70,368) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. |
