The Erickson School of Aging Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the position of Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success Manager. As one of the leading schools in aging studies, our focus is on preparing students for a successful career in leading and innovating in the expanding field of aging.

Position Overview:

The Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success Manager plays a vital role at the Erickson School and UMBC. This position involves attracting prospective students, supporting them through their academic journey, and partnering with faculty and staff to enhance the student experience. The manager will use data-driven insights to refine recruitment and retention strategies and coordinate recruitment events and orientation programs to aid student transitions.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment and retention strategies to attract and enroll high-achieving students in our various undergraduate and graduate programs in aging studies.
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community colleges, universities, high schools, and other educational institutions to promote the Erickson School and its programs.
  • Develop, manage, and execute outreach events on and off campus to engage with potential students to effectively communicate the uniqueness of the Erickson School's programs and career opportunities in aging.
  • Collaborate with other programs and academic departments across UMBC and external groups to create targeted initiatives to enhance student experience and satisfaction.
  • Counsels and supports students seeking assistance, guidance, and resources throughout their academic journey, leading to their satisfaction and success.
  • Analyze and present student enrollment, retention rates, and academic performance data to identify trends and inform decision-making. Advise the Erickson School senior leadership team on areas for improvement and innovation that lead to student retention, satisfaction, and success. Develop and execute strategies to meet established goals based on data analysis.
  • Develop, and manage financial budgets associated with the position and provide necessary reporting and documentation.
  • Collaborate with faculty members to support curriculum development, course scheduling, and assessment activities.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • A master’s degree preferably in education, management, marketing, communications, or a related field is required.
  • At least five years of experience in higher education, focusing on student recruitment, admissions, and retention, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong customer service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge of data and analytics tools to track and measure recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PeopleSoft system.
  • Proficient in using social media and other digital platforms for student recruitment.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community.
Preferred Qualifications: 

Knowledge and passion for the field of aging studies.

Salary:

Salary: $82,500 - $92,500 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
