Position Overview:

Manages the campus central and satellite plant infrastructure as well as the Event Center plant infrastructure.  Additionally, manage the campus energy/utility management system and make recommendations on repair priorities, operational improvements and energy conservation methods.  Determine priorities for major repair and plant renewal projects and identify long-term plant renewal/asset preservation funding needs.  Develop and administer programs for maintenance, repair and operation activities and assure continuous operations.  Manages the training and operation of the after hours call center.  Ensure the protection of personnel and equipment is a top priority.  Provide training, materials and equipment to ensure personnel and equipment safety.

Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor the campus central, satellite plant and Event Center operations and the campus energy/utility management system.  Develop and administer programs for maintenance, repair and operation activities and assure continuous operations.  Manage the training and operation of the after hours call center.

Direct the campus wide utility planning process.  Develop seasonal environment parameters, in conjunction with the campus energy manager, to optimize the campus utility usage.

Review existing campus building system operations and recommend improvements.

Provide planning and direction to support the strategic initiatives for building and infrastructure maintenance and repair.

Manage the generation and distribution of heating and cooling.  Coordinate DLLR inspections with other trades.

Assist with development and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and repair plans in conjunction with other trades.

Review Architect and Engineer designs (new and modified) for compliance with Operations and Maintenance design standards and make recommendations and develop strategies for utility related value engineering issues.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related area and 10 years of operational experience in facilities management with at least five years at a management/leadership level.

Note:  Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement with four years of experience being equal to a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination. 

  • Considerable administrative and managerial experience in maintenance and utilities activities, with the 5 most recent years of experience in an applicable field of engineering is necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is required.
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Project management experience desired. 
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Project Management software desired.
  • Professional Engineer license not required but desired.
  • First Class Stationary Engineer’s license desired.
