Position Overview:

The Padmanabhan Lab is looking for a highly motivated, creative and ambitious Lab Assistant to join their team. This position will assist in conducting research aimed at identifying factors that drive ovarian cancer progression and developing new strategies to treat this disease.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Operates and performs general housekeeping on laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, meters, microscopes, incubators, autoclaves, chromatographs, and chemical analysis instrumentation
  • Cleans and sterilizes glassware; stocks shelves and drawers; separates and prepares laboratory materials for recycling
  • Maintains chemicals and equipment inventory
  • Assists in preparing simple solutions, media, reagents and stains by pouring, measuring and mixing liquid, powder and crystalline chemicals following established formulas and procedures
  • Assist with maintaining mouse colonies
  • Performs basic molecular and cell biology experiments as instructed
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months laboratory work experience

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • At least one year of research experience in a laboratory setting
