The Center for Art, Design, and Visual Culture (CADVC) is a forum for research, exhibition, publication, and public programming in the fields of art, design, and visual culture. Founded as the Fine Arts Gallery in 1989, CADVC was established in 2003 as a CAHSS research center that expands the mandate of the academic art gallery in alignment with the rigor and interdisciplinary of UMBC as a research institution and Honors University.

Responsibilities:

Assist with artist and curator travel, payments, reimbursements, procurements, and scheduling related to CADVC's 2024-2025 exhibition research, exhibition production, artist residency, and special programs (specifically related to the launch of a special endowment and associating programming). This person may be asked to help the Executive Director with some general administrative assistance as needed. Must know and understand payment and procurement systems, must show excellent communication and attention to detail, some accounting experience preferred. Other duties as assigned.

This is a part time position working approximately 10 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, with preference given to candidates who can be available for hours on Monday and/or Tuesday mornings. Telework options are available.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, or the equivalent four years of comparable experience.
  • Ability to learn and support institutional procedures. Demonstrated experience or applicable transferable skills a plus.

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, Arts Administration. Arts-related education preferred.
  • University or museum/gallery, and/or cultural administration experience; experience with arts and culture-related organizational procedures and management.
  • Accounting experience preferred.

Salary:

Hourly Salary Range: Minimum: $25 to Maximum: $30, commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Part-time (10 hours/week)
