Position Overview: Under the supervision of the mechanical engineering (ME) department chairman, the incumbent will assist ME department faculty, staff and students by providing comprehensive administrative support.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available. 

Responsibilities:
  • Provides comprehensive administrative support to ME department faculty, staff and students, effectively communicating updates as needed.
  • Assists ME department faculty, students, staff and outside collaborators with the travel pre-approval and reimbursement processes.
  • Assists with processing various reimbursements, stipends, and procurements, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
  • Responsible for reconciliation of purchasing credit card.
  • Collaborates with president and treasurer of student organizations to ensure that payment and coordination of events happens timely.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years experience providing administrative support.

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Procurement through UMBC processes and systems
  • PeopleSoft experience
  • USM Foundation procurement and reimbursement experience
  • Strong verbal, written communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and execute complex instructions

Salary:

Pay Range 09 (minimum: $32,716; maximum: $53,954 based on part time 28 hours per week) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Additional Information: Please note that this is a part-time contractual staff position. The contract term will be for a one-year period, with the option to renew.
