Position Overview:

This position provides first-level support for the Retriever Card Center (RCC) department. This position prepares incoming mail for distribution and processes outgoing mail including front coverage support for both our mail and campus card counters.

Responsibilities:

Serves as a Postal Service Processor in the delivery of all classes of mail, on an assigned route, to departments and living quarters on the UMBC Campus. Includes pickup/delivery to branch offices of the USPS if needed. Loads and unloads vehicles, either alone or assisting other employees. Helps sort and process incoming/outgoing mail for USPS, FedEx, and UPS, as well as inter-campus mail from Annapolis (Central Payroll) Adelphi, MPRC, UMB, UMBC, UMCP, and other affiliates. Operates UMBC vehicle for delivery route.  Front coverage support for both our mail and campus card counters.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a High School diploma or GED.

One year of related mail processing work experience.

Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license.

Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Post-secondary education with an Associate or 4 year degree

General knowledge of United States Post Office procedures and regulations; of postal rates and meter operations. Skill in sorting, processing, and delivering mail.

Salary:

Pay Range 4 (minimum: $40,315 maximum: $54,409) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
