Position Overview: |
The Business Services Specialist, Travel, under the supervision of the Assistant Manager of Business Services, is responsible for working with the campus community to approve all travel requests for reimbursement, ensuring that the requester follows all UMBC and State policies relating to travel.

Responsibilities: |
- The Coordinator will approve all travel requests for reimbursement, ensuring that the requester follows all UMBC and State policies relating to travel, and provides all appropriate documentation.
- The Coordinator will train and provide guidance and supervision to the campus community, to include:
- Updating travel policies and procedures
- Updating the travel website consistently with training and informational documentation
- Resolving issues through the RT Ticket System
- Acting as the liaison between Business Services and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), campus users of the Travel System, Center for Global Engagement (CGE) relating to international travel, and the UMBC-approved travel agencies
- Address and resolve all audit requests and issues pertaining to travel reimbursements and processes
- The reconciliation of all airfare/rail and fee charges, and the distribution of the charges to the departments.
- This position will provide backup for the Working Fund Custodian, the Petty Cash Custodian and the Assistant Manager.
- It is probable that UMBC will contract for a new travel system. The incumbent will assist the Assistant Manager in transitioning the campus to the new system.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work
- Ability to apply basic analytical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Planning international trips, demonstrating a strong understanding of travel logistics, including itinerary coordination and compliance with international travel requirements.
- Processing domestic or international travel reimbursement requests, showcasing attention to detail, familiarity with travel policies, and the ability to ensure accurate financial documentation.

Salary: |
Pay Range 11 (minimum: $49,582 maximum: $81,782) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
