Position Overview: |
This role will assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of UMBC's Classification and Compensation Programs.

Responsibilities: |
Compensation Specialist
- Conducts initial review, job analysis, and job evaluation of new, vacant, and filled position change requests including reclassifications, equity adjustments, in-grade adjustments, and salary range updates and confirmations.
- Develops written reports of findings for standard roles and-determines classification and compensation based upon research conducted and the best available balance of evidence.
- Conducts costing
- Completes salary data requests
Senior Compensation Specialist
- Reviews and approves standard studies independently
- Makes recommendations regarding the development and updating of salary structures, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures as needed
- Conducts Acting Capacity Requests

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Compensation Specialist
- Bachelor's Degree
- Two years of general Human Resources experience with knowledge of classification and compensation
- Experience in Excel with ability to analyze data sets
- Strong analytical and data manipulation skills
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of current compensation practices and trends
- Strong customer service skills
Senior Compensation Specialist
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Five years of general Human Resources Experience, two years in classification and compensation
- Advanced experience in Excel with proven ability to analyze complex data sets

Preferred Qualifications: |
- One year of experience with the State of MD Classification and Compensation policies
- One year of experience with the compilation and assessment of salary data
- Strong customer service skills interacting with senior leadership
- Experience in creative problem solving related to complex classification/compensation requests
|

Salary: |
Senior Compensation Specialist: $79,000 - $84,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Compensation Specialist: $69,000 to $73,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
