Position Overview: |
The Center for Global Engagement seeks a Business Financial Specialist to oversee the financial and budgetary activities of the Center. This position will be responsible for reconciling, managing, reporting and analyzing specific funds and projects maintained by the Center. This position supports procurement requests to include purchasing and contracts, accounts payable, journal entries and travel.

Responsibilities: |
- Prepare journal entries, budget revision requests, payment requests for staff reimbursements, working fund requests, invoices, and payroll transfer requests for submission to the Academic Affairs Other Units Shared Services Center for processing.
- Reconcile and report on all related financial activities and accounts within the Center including state, self-support, foundation, scholarships, and other research self-support budgets for the Center. Processing and tracking both inbound and outbound cash flows related to exchange agreements.
- Process deposit transmittals, submitting contracts for approval through PAWS and executing both departmental and Foundation scholarship award requests. Overseeing preparation and submission of paperwork and monitoring completion of payment for international wire transfers and ACH EFT deposits for Education Abroad Faculty-Led and International Partnerships’ agent agreements.
- Review and complete travel requests and reimbursements for CGE staff.
- Serve as department purchasing card holder and prepare reports on dining and purchase card expenditures for monthly review and reconciliation.
- Develop departmental budget requests in coordination with the Center leadership.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Center-affiliated staff, faculty and students on institutional policies and procedures pertaining to activities and programs sponsored by the Center.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field.
- 3 years progressive experience in budgeting, financial analysis, reconciliation, or a related field.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to prioritize, organize, problem solve, and manage time to meet deadlines/goals.
- Technologically savvy (ability to learn new processes, systems and software quickly).
- Experience using Google Applications such as Docs, Drive, Sheets, as well as experience using Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Comfortable working remotely or in a virtual setting.
- Experience serving multiple clients, units, or department.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary: |
Pay Range 11 (minimum: $49,582 maximum: $81,782) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
