Position Overview: |
Reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel, the Senior Associate General Counsel will engage in a wide-ranging, intellectually challenging, fast-paced, and demanding practice providing legal advice to the University on a full range of transactional legal matters and projects, focusing on the University’s research and technology transfer enterprise and IT operations. This is a great opportunity to join the University’s sophisticated in-house legal team.

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.

Responsibilities: |
Practice areas will focus on providing legal and strategic advice on a wide array of complex topics involving multiple stakeholders, consulting contracts, professional services contracts, general business contracts, providing general legal support for the Division of Research and Creative Achievement, including research involving foreign national scholars, general legal support for the Division of Information Technology, and mentoring and cross-training junior attorneys.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Juris Doctorate or Master of Laws degree from an accredited ABA law school and eligibility for admission to the Maryland Bar.
- Minimum five (5) years of post-JD, recent, relevant experience as a practicing attorney focused on intellectual property, research, or similar practice areas.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Prior practice law experience in a higher education setting, government, or non-profit organization and a thorough understanding of legal, academic, and operational issues pertinent to research-intensive public universities preferred, including experience in intellectual property, technology transfer, software/hardware acquisition negotiation, and data security/cybersecurity.
|

Salary: |
Salary: $183,000 - $206,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
