The Department of Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) is part of The College of Engineering and Information Technology (COEIT) at UMBC. We currently offer a variety of degrees and certificates for undergraduate and graduate students, including a B.S. in chemical engineering with three tracks; traditional, biochemical and environmental. We also offer an M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering, as well as an applied certificate program in biochemical regulatory engineering.

Position Overview:

This position supports all aspects of the CBEE Graduate Program operations including serving as an intermediary for the CBEE Graduate Program Director as well as interacting with administration, faculty, staff, current students, prospective students and alumni. This position will work closely with the Graduate Program Director and  Department Chair to improve efficiencies in administrative processes and to develop and implement a strong recruitment plan to increase enrollment and retention in all Graduate Programs.

Responsibilities:

Graduate Program Administration

  • Meet regularly with the CBEE Graduate Program Director (GPD) and the Associate Director

  • Support GPD in the preparation for the Graduate Program Committee meetings 

  • Provide academic advising and support to current students in preparation for meetings with GPD

Graduate Student Recruitment and Application Processing

  • Coordinate recruitment and admission activities for all CBEE Graduate Programs 

Student Advising, Community and Retention Events 

  • Plan and coordinate social and professional events for graduate students

  • Request and respond to feedback from students

  • Academic advising for graduate students regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resource

Department Administration and Technical Support

  • Maintain department’s electronic communications

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Three years of experience in administrative staff work
  • Excellent customer service, organization and verbal/written skills
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and staff at all levels, representing the department in a professional manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master's preferably in education
  • Five or more years of experience in education administration
  • Functional knowledge in HTML, Wordpress, PeopleSoft, and Adobe Software

Salary:

Salary: $58,000 - $65,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
