Position Overview:

The Executive Administrative Assistant I for the Director of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation is responsible for managing activities within the Department of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent provides high-level executive and administrative support to the Director of Athletics, Recreation, and Physical Education. The incumbent serves as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong organizational abilities, discretion, and attention to detail. The incumbent is frequently entrusted with handling highly confidential and sensitive matters and must demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills set.

The Executive Administrative Assistant for the Director of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation provides executive level administrative support to the Director of Athletics, Recreation & Physical Education to include preparing correspondence, calendar management and ensuring confidentiality of information.

The responsibilities consist of, but of not limited to managing calendar of the Director of Athletics, Recreation & Physical Education by scheduling appointments, supporting UMBC Athletics, Recreation & Physical Education related events and assisting with coordination of logistic aspects of events or meeting management, including scheduling, event theme, catering, and marketing.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Four years of secretarial experience

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bachelors Degree
  • One year experience in administrative staff work to a key administrator
  • Experience working in a Human Resources unit

Salary:

Pay Range 10 (minimum: $48,138 maximum: $63,764) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
