Position Overview: |
The UMBC Office of Residential Life seeks a Plumber to perform plumbing work at the journey level. The holder of this position will perform installations and repairs, and maintain plumbing systems to provide a sanitary and inhabitable spaces for students and staff.

Responsibilities: |
Primary Duties include:
- Install, diagnose problems, repair and maintain pipes and fixtures of heating, water, gas, sewers and drainage systems.
- Lay out and assemble pipe systems and supports. Plans installations and repairs to avoid obstructions.
- Oversees and performs repairs and replacements of toilets, sinks, drain lines and faucets.
- Cleans obstruction from waste and sewage lines.
- Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials. Prepares reports reflecting daily operations and project status.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Minimum qualifications:
- Maryland state certification as a licensed plumber.
- Four years progressively responsible experience in the plumbing trade.
Physical requirements:
- Work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery.
- Work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Manipulate heavy equipment, tools, supplies, and/or exert force up to 70lbs.
- Work in hazardous or irritating environments, confined spaces, and adverse weather.
- Wear and work in personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment of the plumbing trade.
- Skill in the installation and repair of sanitary plumbing and appliances.
- Skill in welding, soldering, and threading pipe.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Salary: |
Pay Range 12 (minimum: $51,069 maximum: $84,257) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
