Video Production Specialist

Department: The New Media Studio serves as UMBC’s central hub for video production on campus. For over 25 years, UMBC’s television production facility has served institutional production needs while providing a rich academic resource for students in a number of disciplines. Video field production services are also provided by the Studio. We are equipped for multi-camera and HD shooting and can create broadcast-quality productions in a wide range of distribution formats, including UMBCtube.com. The New Media Studio (newmediastudio.umbc.edu) is part of the Division of Information Technology (doit.umbc.edu). 
Position Overview:

The video production specialist will shoot, edit and produce finished video product using professional grade equipment and advanced post-production techniques, interact with clients throughout the production process, and work together with other New Media Studio staff on productions and projects.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available, pending supervisor's approval.

Responsibilities:
  • Work on HD studio productions, livestreams, and sports broadcasting on ESPN digital platforms.
  • Help produce live or recorded video production of a key campus events including Commencements, Convocation, Service Awards, opening meetings, town halls and selected guest lectures.
  • Assist in classroom instruction and facilitation of production activities, including visual assignments, and digital storytelling.
  • Dissemination of grant-funded research.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience in video production or related field.
  • Proficient skill level in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Audtion.
  • Familiarity with Final Cut Pro.
  • Proficient skill level in camera operation, audio design and lighting for video.

Note:  Position requires occasional availability in evenings and on weekends.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preferred qualifications include the following:

  • Experience working in HD television studio and sports broadcasting, documentary production.
  • Experience in video engineering
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • A group-oriented perspective and growth mindset

Salary:

Salary: $52,280 - $59,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week), Occasional availability in evenings and on weekends.

Initial contract is for one year with the possibility to renew.
