Position Overview: |
The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Life contributes to UMBC’s mission by enhancing the graduate student experience through innovative programming and support. This role promotes student success, engagement, and a sense of belonging, aligning with UMBC’s goals of fostering a vibrant and inclusive academic community.

Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Graduate Student Association events, including the Graduate Research Conference and Graduate Student Week Celebrations, providing guidance and support.
- Collaborate with the Graduate Student Association and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive annual events calendar.
- Hire, train, and supervise Office of Graduate Life graduate assistants, managing their schedules to ensure office coverage during weekdays (excluding university holidays).
- Manage administrative functions and budget for the Graduate Student Association, reconciling the budget with Business Services as needed.
- Supervise daily operations of the Office of Graduate Student Life.
- Engage in planning with the Sr. Director of Student Belonging, Graduate School, deans, faculty, and staff.
- Coordinate with campus partners, including deans, associate deans, department chairs, program directors, and faculty, to support the success of graduate students.
- Support content creation for myUMBC and relevant social media sites to promote relevant programming and services to students

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Education Required:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree
Experience Required: 1-2 years experience with:
- Experience with and commitment to working with graduate students
- Experience with goal setting, leadership development and/or strategic planning
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
- Experience managing an office and personnel, including budget management.

Preferred Qualifications: |
Education Preferred:
- Master's Degree preferred
Experience Preferred: 3-4 years experience with:
- Experience working in a graduate student setting preferred
- Experience working with student government organizations, especially at the graduate level preferred
- Experience with promoting and organizing events preferred
- Experience with university accounting procedures preferred

Salary: |
Salary: $69,000 - $78,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
