The Department of Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management is the campus resource center for providing professional services and information in the areas of employment, benefits, compensation and classification, training and development, payroll, employee relations, policy, administration, and human resources data management and reporting.

Position Overview:
|
The HR Associate I position provides coverage for the Human Resources front desk by serving as the first point of contact for the department and providing customer service to the public and the campus community.
The position also assists with specialized administrative duties in support of the Human Resources functions in areas such as employment, classification/compensation, benefits, payroll, employee relations, training and human resources information systems.

Responsibilities:
|
- Greet visitors, answer direct phone calls, sort and distribute departmental mail; and answer general HR inquiries via email.
- Prepare various employment verification letters or forms for active and former employees.
- Provide support to the Executive Administrative Assistant and, occasionally, the Chief Human Resources Officer, with tasks and projects, including but not limited to onboarding new employees; calendar management; time entry/payroll transactions; and submitting IT or Facilities service requests.
- Provide support to departmental staff for administrative tasks and special projects.
- Serve as Property Custodian for department laptops and computers; assist with departmental key maintenance and distribution; and monitor receipt of degree verifications for new employees.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Three years clerical experience, one year of which must have involved the application of human resources policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Salary:
|
Pay Range 9 (minimum: $46,736 maximum: $77,077) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
