Position Overview: |
The Administrative Assistant II will provide administrative support for two undergraduate specialty scholar programs, the Humanities Scholar Program and the Linehan Artist Scholars Program, and their directors.

Responsibilities: |
Specific duties include:
- Utilizing PeopleSoft university systems for scheduling, finances, course advising and communications;
- Overseeing calendar coordination, payroll, recruitment and admission communications;
- Handling class and event scheduling;
- Coordinating catering;
- Making excursion and transportation arrangements;
- Overseeing office, reception and administrative/clerical needs as well as other business operations;
- Greeting visitors;
- Receiving and sorting incoming correspondence;
- Reading and editing outgoing correspondence as requested;
- Maintaining office, especially accounting and budget, records; and
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three years experience providing administrative support
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Bachelor's Degree in Humanities or field related to the arts is preferred.
- The successful applicant will be organized, efficient, motivated, a good. listener, not afraid to ask follow-up questions, and a self-starter and team player.
- Attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit documents and spreadsheets.
- Ability to interact politely and effectively with diverse student, faculty and external parties in an efficient and clear manner.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and ongoing as well as new assignments with general instructions or be ready to ask follow-up questions.
- General knowledge and skill in the practical use of generally accepted business and bookkeeping practices and be competent and comfortable in working with spreadsheets, shared file systems, e-mail, PeopleSoft, Google
calendar and other on-line administrative systems such as 25Live Pro for room scheduling in standard use at UMBC.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as Quicken, and Blackboard.
- Willingness to learn how to use WordPress to maintain program websites.

Salary: |
Pay Range 9 (minimum: $23,368 maximum: $38,538 -- at 20 hours per week) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
