The Peaceworker program is located within The Shriver Center at UMBC, a national leader in applied learning, civic engagement, and community-based service delivery. The Shriver Center enables students to connect theory to practice and thought to action, bringing their experience back to the classroom.

Position Overview:

The mission of The Shriver Peaceworker Fellows Program is to support and engage returned Peace Corps volunteers through a graduate level service-learning fellowship. The program prepares Peaceworker Fellows for leadership in diverse fields of public and private service to impact pressing social needs in the Baltimore region through partnerships with community agencies involving direct and significant service focused on creative solutions across a range of social concerns.

The Program Coordinator assists with the day-to-day administration of the Peaceworker Program, including the management of graduate assistantships and taking the lead in managing administrative tasks, contracts and alumni relations.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available.

Responsibilities:
  • Peaceworker Program administration
  • Support the Director in mentoring and advising Fellows
  • Instruct Peaceworker practicum
  • Alumni and community partner relations
  • Program recruitment, review and selection
  • Contract management
  • Fundraising and community partner development
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity
  • Strong engagement in Baltimore (or a desire to learn and engage)
  • 1+ years of experience in one or more of the following: volunteer service coordination, nonprofit management, or higher education.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with Peace Corps or other similar national service program
  • Experience in community partnerships and community-building or community organizing
  • Experience in higher education, fundraising, or communications
  • Experience in program outreach including social media and in alumni or
    affinity group development

Salary:

Salary: $52,000-$59,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
