Position Overview: |
In conjunction with the Director & Deputy Director of Athletics, Recreation & Physical Education, this position will direct, plan and organize UMBC’s 17 intercollegiate athletics programs and support functions. Provide overall direction and support for a full-time staff and approximately 75 coaches and administrators. This position will ensure program operations are of high quality and integrity and are functioning in support of the overall University vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities: |
The incumbent will be responsible for the fiscal management and oversight of all accounting, budget and financial reporting functions within the Department of Athletics, working closely will all central processing entities on campus. This position is responsible for monitoring all financial aspects of the Athletic Department, including development and oversight of team and administrative budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, property control and all required financial reports. This position will be responsible for analysis and preparation of recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operational forecasts. The incumbent will perform internal audits and monitor organizational performance including necessary checks and balances on financial function activities to ensure controls are operating as designed. Additionally, this position will develop and implement business processes and practices to support these functions. There will be a heavy focus on the management of all phases of the athletic department budget; including planning, preparation, forecasting and reporting.
Specific duties include: involvement in monetary guarantees and/or NCAA stipends and assistance with preparation of various contracts as necessary; furnish any budgetary documents needed for NCAA, University System of Maryland Board of Regents (BOR) America East conference (AEC), state and governmental offices and to ensure that they are submitted to appropriate offices in a timely manner; assist with preparation of surveys, reports, etc., for NCAA, BOR, AEC and others as requested; evaluate athletic travel expenditures to ensure compliance with UMBC, BOR and NCAA regulations; monitor requisitions to ensure expenditures are allowable and properly coded; perform other duties as assigned.
Work may be required on evenings and weekends.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- Bachler’s Degree
- (7) Seven years experience in Business Finance, Accounting or comparable experience
|
Preferred Qualifications: |
- Master Degree - Business, Finance, Accounting or Equivalent Degree
- 10 Years experience working in a NCAA Division I Business Department or relevant competencies
|

Salary: |
Salary: $112,000 - $126,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
