Retriever Integrated Health (RIH) brings together UMBC’s Health Services and Counseling Center in a collaborative, holistic approach to support student well-being and academic success. Our interdisciplinary team includes compassionate administrative staff and skilled professionals from a wide range of fields—medicine, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, counseling, social work, health education, dietetics, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Together, we provide comprehensive, student-centered care designed to help the UMBC community thrive.

Responsibilities:

Retriever Integrated Health at UMBC is seeking a dedicated part-time psychiatric provider to deliver high-quality psychiatric care to UMBC students. In addition to direct clinical services, the provider will offer consultation and collaborate closely with staff in both University Health Services and the Counseling Center to support integrated, student-centered care.

The Psychiatrist/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (General Associate) will be responsible for: 

  • Providing routine psychiatric evaluation and intervention services for assessment and evaluation of UMBC students.
  • Providing ongoing follow-up, evaluation and treatment as needed. 
  • Facilitating higher level of care referral of Counseling Center clients and Health Services patients as needed and appropriate. 
  • Being available for emergency consultations for psychiatric problems, conditions and crisis intervention. 
  • Providing consultation to RIH medical and counseling staff and other UMBC departmental staff. 
  • Providing professional development/training to medical and counseling staff.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Appropriate Maryland Licensure by the time of Appointment 
  • Cultural competence and clinical sophistication in delivering mental health care to a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body. 
  • A strong understanding of the full range of developmental and mental health challenges affecting young adults. 
  • Interpersonal skills and an ability to form a therapeutic alliance with college-age and graduate student populations. 
  • Demonstrated competence in crisis intervention, assessing need for psychiatric hospitalization, handling psychiatric emergencies, and supervising referrals for inpatient care. 
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other health and mental health clinicians in providing team-based care to and in conducting assessments and requested evaluations. 
  • Demonstrated competence in use of best practices for diagnostic evaluation and psychopharmacological treatment. 
  • Provide care in an interpersonally and culturally sensitive manner.

Salary:

Hourly rate is  $80/hr, commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Additional Information: This is a temporary position.  Initial contract is for 6 months with the possibility of renewal.
