Position Overview: |
The Business Service Specialist is a member of the College of Engineering and Information Technology’s Shared Services Center (COEIT SSC) and will support the Business Operations Team (BOT). This position will be responsible for serving as a primary or backup payroll preparer and initiating and managing all payroll and HR functions. The position will also process procurement, payment requests, and other reimbursement activities for all departments supported by the COEIT SSC |

Responsibilities: |
This position will be responsible for hiring and payroll support for all employment categories. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, initiating onboarding forms and meeting with new employees, collecting, preparing, and reviewing appropriate payroll forms with employees, position management, reviewing Time Entry, entering payroll adjustments, and leave management. Other duties of this position will also include preparing and entering requisitions, paying invoices, using the p-card to purchase goods and services, performing monthly p-card reallocations and reconciliations, and preparing different types of reimbursements for our staff, faculty, and students (travel, foundation, personal, and moving reimbursements). |
Required Minimum Qualifications: |
High School diploma or GED. Six years progressively responsible experience in a combination of budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel work. Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. |

Salary: |
Pay Range 11 (minimum: $49,582 maximum: $81,782) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. |
