Position Overview: |
The Sponsored Project Accountant or Senior Sponsored Project Accountant will read, review and interpret award documents to ensure award setup is complete in PeopleSoft, and provide notification to campus units of award information. The Sponsored Project Accountant or Senior Sponsored Project Accountant will be responsible for maintaining good cash flow through proper invoicing/payment and timely financial reporting of assigned sponsored awards.

Responsibilities: |
- Working with the assigned Manager, the Grant Accountant will assist in ensuring expenditure compliance.
- Coordinating with departmental and central unit personnel, the Grant Accountant will be responsible for the financial closeout function of sponsored awards.
- The Grant Accountant will participate in training and development involving a variety of sponsored post award financial administration activities. They will develop an understanding of OCGA areas of responsibility and become familiar with how other central groups like OSP, OCGA-Cost Accounting & Analysis, Financial Accounting & Reporting, etc. function in their relationship with OCGA.
Candidates with additional experience will be considered for the Senior Level Accountant.
- Additional Duties for Senior Accountant:
- The Senior Accountant performs at a high level and exhibits proficient knowledge associated with Office of Contract and Grant Accounting {OCGA) operations.
- The Senior Accountant will perform with independence and minimal supervisory oversite and may also assist Grant Accountants as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
Education Required:
- Sponsored Project Accountant - Bachelor's degree.
- Senior Grant Accountant - Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
Experience Required:
- Sponsored Project Accountant
- One year of experience with general accounting practices and procedures.
- Critical thinking skills and keen attention to detail.
- Advanced organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under the pressure of deadlines.
- Excellent customer service, and communication skills.
- Additional experience required for Senior Sponsored Project Accountant
- Three years of full working knowledge of general accounting practices and procedures.
- Two years of experience in Research Administration Accounting or related Financial Accounting.

Preferred Qualifications: |
Experience Preferred:
- Sponsored Project Accountant
- One year experience in Research Administration Accounting or related Financial Accounting.
- Basic working knowledge of federal regulations including Uniform Guidance and the FARs.
- Additional experience preferred for Senior Sponsored Project Accountant
- Experience with both Central and Departmental administration of Sponsored Research activities.

Salary: |
Salary: Sponsored Project Accountant $58,000 - $65,000/Senior Sponsored Project Accountant $70,000 - $78,500 depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
