Position Overview:
|
The General Audio Video Technician for Event & Conference Services (ECS) is focused on event execution and equipment management for a variety of campus events and is the main point of contact for Shop Control and Inventory Movement for the events that ECS executes.

Responsibilities:
|
The General AV Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the ECS Production shop for numerous university events, including but not limited to Student Culture Shows, University Meetings & Presentations, External Conferences, and more.
The General AV Technician will assist in evaluating current shop inventory and make recommendations for show deployment, future maintenance, replacement, and expansion.
The General AV Technician will assist in operating A/V technology such as sound, lighting, or video to lead students executing various campus events.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
|
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Multimedia Technology or related field.
- One year in the operation and maintenance of audio-visual or multimedia equipment.
- A valid Maryland drivers license, as well as the ability to drive a large cargo van and/or 16ft box truck.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
Thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of multimedia equipment; of basic media systems and facilities design. Skill in the operation and repair of multimedia equipment. Ability to lead and train subordinate personnel; to use personal computers; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work over, under and around fixed equipment; to work in confined spaces; to lift and carry multimedia equipment.

Salary:
|
Pay Range 11 (minimum: $49,582 maximum: $81,782) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Hours:
|
Full-time with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. The following is the base support schedule of Tuesday to Thursday 1 pm to 7 pm, Friday and Saturday 2 pm to 11:30 pm with the opportunity of overtime, shift differential, and rotating shifts with other full time staff members to meet the needs of the unit.
