Responsibilities: |
The Laboratory Research Technician Assistant will assist in the implementation of scientific studies that investigate the behavioral role of he kappa opioid system. The Research Technician Assistant will help with the day-to-day operations of he lab, carry out or assist other personnel with experiments, assist with collecting and analyzing data, and supervising the work of undergraduates.
Primary duties include maintaining mouse colonies, genotyping, behavioral studies, laboratory organization and ordering, immunostaining/microscopy and other basic molecular biology techniques.
This position will support the laboratory's research objectives by improving productivity and promote the department's mission to produce high-quality research and help with undergraduate research training.

Required Minimum Qualifications: |
- Associates degree preferably in a biological or chemical science.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
- Ability to work independently and be willing to work as a member of a team of graduate student, post-doctoral, and faculty researchers.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field (Strongly preferred).
- Experience working with animal models, bonus for work with mice.
- Advanced neuroscience, genetics, and/or molecular biology work
- Ability to manage overlapping projects and deadlines effectively
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work
- Experience with maintaining mouse colonies
- Experience with molecular biology techniques - such as genotyping and immunostaining/microscopy

Salary: |
Pay Range 9 (minimum: $46,736 maximum: $77,077) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
