Responsibilities:

The Associate Director serves as a senior management member of the Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation team and oversees, in conjunction with the Assistant Vice Provost and Director, the strategic partnerships that build pipelines for all undergraduate students to meet enrollment goals. These pipelines include but are not limited to Maryland Community Colleges, the Visual and Performing Arts Departments, NCAA Athletics, International Agents and International School Based Organizations, UMBC’s Division of Professional Studies and Graduate School, and MOUs with for-profit agencies with educational benefits connected to UMBC. This position will also oversee all reinstatement and readmission policies and special programs aimed at students who have stopped-out.

This position will supervise the ongoing evaluation and development of proactive communications strategies for these targeted populations in addition to oversight on the policies and agreements in place to document equitable practices inline with all state and university policy. The Associate Director also serves as the primary UMBC liaison with community colleges and is responsible for developing key partnerships and articulation agreements with these institutions. This includes overseeing UMBC’s Transfer Student Alliance (TSA) program which now includes all twenty-three community colleges in Maryland, Degrees to Succeed with Community College of Baltimore County, and Transfer Plus with Carroll Community College. 

In addition, the Associate Director visits community colleges and high schools, conducts presentations and information sessions, attends college fairs, reviews applications rendering appropriate admission decisions; applies university policies and performs other duties as assigned.

There are five direct and indirect reports to this position who are responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of transfers and other special populations (international students, athletes, visual and performing artists, etc). This position will provide direct and indirect supervision by monitoring workload, evaluating performance, and seeking opportunities for employee professional and skill development.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum 5 years of related and transferable skills in project management, recruitment, onboarding, and supervising

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's Degree

Salary:

Salary: $84,000 - $95,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
