Department:

The UMBC Police Department is comprised of experienced, diverse police professionals who provide full-service law enforcement responsibilities, police communication professionals who provide a first point of contact for police services and a highly-trained civilian staff who provide support for the Police Department mission. The Police Department is the cornerstone of a comprehensive institutional strategy to maintain a safe environment for our campus population of over 14,000 students, 3,000 faculty and staff, plus visitors.

Responsibilities:

This is a part-time position working 16-19 hours per week.

Schedule:  Weekdays - flexible schedule available.

Requires working in-person/on campus.  

Reporting to the Business Services Specialist, this position is responsible for:

  • Preparing weekly departmental deposits
  • Preparing and distributing campus billing and maintaining detailed records
  • Processing vendor invoices via University PCard & PAW Procurement
  • Coordinate the procurement process, including contracts, purchase orders & managing purchasing for the department
  • Serve as the department’s Inventory Property Custodian, managing sensitive and capital inventory
  • Coordinate logistics for departmental events and training sessions
  • Manage departmental office equipment: coordinate service requests, order supplies and monitor maintenance agreements
  • Coordinate work orders for facilities maintenance, repairs and small-scale projects
  • Maintain departmental filing systems
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Requires High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative support, accounts payable, billing, or related areas. 

Must have:

  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel 
  • strong organizational skills;
  • high attention to detail;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • professional demeanor;
  • ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications: 

Procurement, billing & accounts payable experience preferred.

Salary:

$23.00 per hour
